Game Rules

  • All matches : Best of 3. First two sets play to 25 (cap 27); third set play to 15 (cap 17)
  • Punctuality : Teams will be awarded one point for every minute their opposing team is late.
    • Match will be forfeited if a team is 15 minutes late.
  • (MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY) Open handed tips must land beyond the 10ft line.
    • Players may swing, roll, knuckle poke or bump, but cannot push/have fingertips guide ball.
  • The second contact rule allows multiple touches on the second team hit, provided the contacts occur in a single action and the ball is then played to a teammate.
  • SERVE RECIEVE/ROTATION
    • Blocking or attacking (spiking) a serve is prohibited.
    • May receive ball overhand on first contact.
    • Serve receive rotation is not enforced, except for serving order.
      • Players must serve in same serving order during each set, but do not need to be in serving order during serve receive.
  • SERVING
    • All players must serve from behind the endline.
    • Foot must not touch the endline before player contacts ball

POWER 4 : Everyone is considered FRONT ROW at all times

  • All players are ‘live’ and considered front row players on offense.
  • NET VIOLATIONS
    • No part of the body may touch the net at anytime.
      • Contact with hair or uniform will not be considered a fault.
    • If opponents contact the net simultaneously, it shall constitute a double fault and point shall be played over.
    • Allowed to have any and all parts of the body to cross the center line as long as there is no interference with an opposing player.
  • NON-ROSTERED SUBSTITUTES
    • Sub must complete the online registration form and pay a one time $25 fee prior to competing
    • Sub may play during regular season, but may not compete during playoffs.
    • Sub cannot compete with more than one team and cannot compete for more than 3 days.
    • Teams are allowed to play with no less than 3 players to avoid a forfeit.
  • MISCELLANEOUS
    • Teams may compete with no less than three players; but no more than four players on the court.
    • If a team has three players on the court, the opposing team does NOT need to have three players competing & can compete with four players on the court.
    • Teams are expected to provide one line judge for each match (parents/sibling)

SPORTSMANSHIP

  • Teams are expected to treat all players and staff with respect.
    • Players will be reminded by kK staff to practice good sportsmanship if poor sportsmanship is being displayed by players.
  • Parents should NOT interfere with the refs calls or competing teams.
    • It is our priority that our kK players/teams are supported and protected, especially when learning the game. Keiki Klub reserves the right to dismiss a spectator due to unsportsmanlike comments/conduct.
